The Education Committee focuses on raising awareness of marine pollution issues in our community by actively bringing all Surfrider Foundation programs to K-12 and college students.  We engage students through presentations, assemblies, hands-on classroom activities and community service opportunities.

Bio: Pamela received her B.A. in Environmental Anthropology and Global Sustainability from the University of California, Irvine. She is the Director of Environmental Sustainability at The Pegasus School in Huntington Beach, California where she teaches students in Pre-K through 8th grade about environmental sustainability. She works closely with scientists from the Algalita Marine Research and Education Institute, and is the K-8 Education Chair for the local Huntington Beach and Seal Beach Surfrider Chapter. Pamela inspires students through hands-on, place-based learning and scientific inquiry, encouraging them to first connect with nature, and then help to protect it. She is extremely passionate about the marine environment in particular.

Joe-Samoa

Bio: Originally from American Samoa,Joe has always loved the ocean.His goal each week is to put in 12 hours of   water time. so Joe has seen a lot of our local waters. Because of his love of the ocean and what he sees Joe    takes a stand to protect our ocean and beaches. Thats why he joined Surfrider Foundation.      In addition to being an avid surfer He enjoys spending time with his family he has been married for 13 yrs to    Lori a 4th grade teacher and together they have 6 children ranging in ages from 15 to 32.     He has 11 years experience as a High school football coach and 33 years working for a pharmaceutical    company, as well as 10 yrs of running his own business.He has also spent time working for the Red Cross    disaster relief team during Katrina.Joe really enjoys sharing what he know about protecting the oceans and    beaches.     Mahalo for taking the time to read this.   Aloha
